Ok so I'm in that suckers for gadget mood again. So sue me. I love gadgets. I love things that are mobile. Where do you think I got that nick from? :P
So Nokia have came up with a new N series which is so the very the Motorola-like design la. It's the new N76. Honestly it does look like the Motorola Razr series. Then again, it's the features that comes with it is what I look for. The WoW factors ofcourse. Nokia has the best UI features. I've tested and owned so many phones in my life and to me, Nokia has the best.
Can't wait to get my hands on this one too!! Well, since iPhone won't be out till early 1st quarter next year, I can always look forward for many more new releases of mobile phone technology.
However, I do hope Apple sees the importance of the need atleast 80GB of HD space and a faster RAM for the soon to be release iPhone. Or else it's not worth it lah! How do you put in PDA stuff, movie files and MP3s in a 4GB HD space? However, I think the combination of this iPod and mobile phone concept is excellent!! You don't need to bring 2 things when you have 2 in 1 right? What's next? You'll probably see the next innovative creation and design of a combination of Games, schedules, TV, MP4s, MP3s and mobile phone technology into one gadget. Which we already see some combinations of that so-very-geeky stuff now. It's all about testing the market and what the market wants.
Damn, forget about the handbags, shoes or some other girlie stuff for now. I'm on a gadget craze mood. I've been consuming too much information on gadget crap. :P Oh well...I'm still very happy with my Treo 750v. I loike it very much!! ;)

People kept asking me why I love gadgets. I don't know how it all started but I have always love gadgetry stuff. It goes way back during my uni days in the states.
Can you imagine how the technology and the evolution of gadgetry evolves from how it was before to what is now.
My first personal digital assistant or now it's called pda looks exactly like this. I carried it around everywhere. I was so organized. Best Buy and Radio Shack was like my favorite hang out after Borders and Barnes & Noble.
Back then mobile phones was as big as a brick. I remember those days when Motorola had those big bulky brick phones. Gosh, I used to carry it around and If I throw it to any dog to scare them, I'm sure the dog would run miles away. Then again, I would be stupid to do that back then.
So after my graduation, I went back home for good and landed off in an IT company. By then, the mobile phones have evolved to become slightly smaller and handy. My first mobile phone back then was the Nokia 232.
By then all pda's have evolved too. At that time, there were too many products and brands to chose from plus it's a big investment and still is now.
My favorite pda and my biggest investment on gadgets during the late 90's was the Palm IIIc. It was one gadget that I really cherish and fell in 
love with. It had graffiti which other pda's don't. I had it for a year and it was because of this gadget that I got to know my husband. (That's because he had one too!). Then came the Palm V, Vx and Palm M505. By then I was already married to my husband. :-) and he got most of my hand-me-down pda's.
By early 2000, I lost track of how many mobile phones I had. I kept trading in my phones from Mitsubishi (yes they had that brand those days) to Samsung to Motorola and went back to Nokia. Then I decided to stick to Nokia because of it's UI simplicity. Amazing how Nokia started off from a Forest Reserve and Rubber works to now one of the giant Telecommunication company in the world. Talk about transition and evolutions over 100 years.
So, after using Palm OS for couple of years, I converted to HP Jornada. Those days, HP Jornada was the in thing and it uses windows mobile. I can be mobile checking, replying emails or surf and all I need was a phone line. At that time we still use the 56Kbps modem connection.
When HP evolved into more compact-all-in-one PDA, I knew I had to have it. It was one of the best gadgets that I had. I owned 3 different models in between those years and carried it everywhere in my handbag. IT center was my favorite hang out during my free time and when I was doing my MA, iPaq was 
my note taking tools. I didn't have to bring those heavy note taking books around the campus. So you see, I used them to the max till it hang few times. Yes, I also had garbage softwares downloaded to my iPaq. (So I can't help it! Sue me! At least I'm not those wannabes who owns or want a gadget and have no freaking idea how to use it! ;))
Tukangtaip and I used to envy with each other and bitch about the latest gadgets in the market. He's into digital cameras while I'm into mobile phones and pdas. This was one of the reason why I'm called "mobilemom". A mom who's always mobile and love gadgets. :P
So when the new wave of 3G, Wifi, EDGE, Bluetooth, MP3, MP4, digital camera and all that crap arrived, I had to join the bandwagon. I didn't want to be left behind with the gadget's revolution even though I am now a full time house wife. All my schedules, kid's school schedules, pictures, mp3's and monthly financial budget is kept in this smart phone. It is a technology that combines PDA's, Mobile phones, digital camera and MP3 into one compact gadget.
Now that the market is bombarded with all sorts of smart phones, and with brand ranges from Dopod to iPaq to Treo and many more which I have now lost track. I don't think I can cope with all the latest gadgets in the market anymore. I lookout for things which I want in a particular gadget.
So, what did I do with all those obsolete gadgets? Some I trade it and some I sold it off. Though the price dropped but the knowledge of gadget technology is all worth it. However I must admit that I still have some of the mobile phones and pdas with me. They are too precious for me to sell it off or give it away and I've decided to keep them.
Well, since Apple now have come up with a new gadget called iPhone and will only be release early 2008, I have one year to save up and settle down with my current Treo 750v. I'm still a happy mobilemom or rather a gadget freak mobilemom! :-) Original gitu!

Oh dear, what have I got my self into this time?
Last night, my husband and I went to the movies again. It was a record indeed. Within a month, we watched 3 different movies at 3 different cinemas. Last night we wanted to be more Malaysian and watch Afdlin Shauki's Baik Punya Cilok Movie. The crowd was really good after a month of its released. Well done Afdlin Shauki.
Anyway, my beloved husband been having this itchy hands on games lately. A trip to my in laws during Raya Haji really struck him. Watching our children sitting down quietly without jumping around the living area like monkeys and seeing their cousins playing PS2 was really amazing. It got me and my husband stuck to the TV screen all together. We were screaming our lungs out to our nephews and nieces as they played NARNIA. It got my blood pressure rising up the ceiling and yes, the stress of watching them playing it really freaks me out at the same time!...No! Don't go there!! Get the key! Hide! Hide! bla bla bla.. It was a very stressfull moment for me ok!!
Since then my conversation with my husband was either PS2 or the stupidity of some "people" having a stupid law. Oh screw the stupid law (If that happens) and I'm not going to mentioned it in my blog!! I have always avoid any political issues in my blogs just because I hate politics and their screw up people who's running it!! Don't get me wrong..then again, think what ever you want. It's a free world and I can THINK what ever I want!! HAH! It's my blog and I can blog about anything I want!! :P (Bitching mode auto ON).
Anyway back to my story (motherly and wife mode ON), hubby's itch got worst when he started drooling when ever we passed by a game shop. He asked for my opinion few times and part of his reasoning was..."you know our son has been banging on your old and expensive Fujitsu laptop just because he can't play a certain game. It defeats the purpose of using the laptop" he said.... and do you think if we buy him this and discipline his time playing it only for 2 hours a day would help him? he continued. I gave him a stare and told him ONLY AFTER SCHOOL is over and homework done. Then again, I have nothing to do with it. It's up to him. I said..You're his daddy and you spoil him bad!! Besides, I'm not buying and you are!!:P And if he doesn't get into Sri KDU in 2 years time, it's your fault!! :P (nag nag nag nag nag nag mode ON)
So anyway, we walked to one game shop to another inquiring the cost of that contraption. The next thing before we went in for our movie, he had a box of a brand new PS2 in his hand. Now, I regret buying my son his Game Boy Advance when he fell ill and hospitalized. Bloody hell, I'm spoiling the kids and my husband now!!!!!! (Nag to my self mode ON) Of course the actual fact is that...my husband plays with it more than his son!! So, there you go mothers out there!! Be prepared to be ignored by your husband and son when they start playing with this contraption!! Darn it!!
Right now, I'm in my room blogging about this with my speaker blasting out the latest album of Mezzoforte - Forward Motion. Where's my husband you asked? Well, he is downstairs blasting the PS2 with his beloved son. My poor daughter screaming her lungs out feeling lost and snuggling up with me every few minutes and plays with her sticker books in between her sobs. Oh, what have I done!!?? (A typical family scenario at home during the weekend).
When I logged into the iTunes USA Music Store a few days ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see Adrian Monk staring right into my eyes. Steve Jobs has indeed done it again. He has managed to sign up NBC and USA cable network to join the existing networks ABC and Disney in the iTunes stable of TV networks available for purchase and download into the iPod. I naturally purchased all 9 episodes of Season 4 of Monk that have been aired in the US over the last few months. That meant I would be saving one trip to the Low Yatt next year when all episodes of Season 4 of Monk are available locally here for sale by the DVD/VCD pirates.
However, what would make me really give up my trip to Low Yatt in total is when Mr Jobs finally persuades CBS and Fox to also sign up with iTunes. CBS which boasts the hit TV series CSI, Amazing Race and Survivor would be the most important deal to make. Fox, on the other hand, offers my other two most favourite tv shows, House and 24.
Once Steve Jobs gets all these networks to sign up with iTunes, my love affair with the iPod would be complete. All my favourite shows would be in the iPod - Lost, Monk, House, 24 - ready for viewing anytime, anywhere. Accompany Mobilemom for her handbag shopping spree? No worries, just drop her off at her favourite bag store and I can be watching Lost at the restaurant. A trip to the hospital? No issue, I can watch House while queueing for the doctor.
What iPod and iTunes has effectively done is to make our ASTRO subscriptions redundant. There are 3 ASTRO decoders in the house and they are tuned to Cartoon Network all the time. So what we have on our TVs day and night are the constant staple of Teen Titans, X Men Evolution and Winx Club. Grown up TV shows can only be found on the iPod or on the laptop.
iPod - the ultimate entertaintment device! And, the ultimate couch potato's dream comes true.
A month after its release, I finally got the iPod Video. Once Steve Jobs announced the new iPod, I immediately knew I would eventually owned it. The obvious attraction is of course the video. My iPod Mini was already performing very well as an MP3 player, providing me countless hours of entertainment whether I was at the gym or 38000 feet in the air. But when the features of the new iPod were finally revealed, the Mini seemed outdated to me. Poor Mini, barely 7 months after purchase, the poor thing has already been called "outdated".
Up until the eventual purchase of the iPod yesterday, my only problem was to subscribe as a member of iTunes USA. As part of the "package" in the release of the new iPod, Apple also updated the iTunes Music Store with TV shows for download. The most notable ones are "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost". Whilst I am not much of a fan of Desperate Housewives, I am an ardent fan of Lost. So, when Steve Jobs said that the new iTunes Music Store will make available for purchase the season 2 of Lost a day after national viewing in the USA, I knew I had to figure out how to become a member of iTunes USA.
A straighforward subscription brought about 2 problems - one, I had to provide a US address (which can be circumvented by providing any valid address - e.g. Mobilemom's previous apartment in the U.S will work) and two, a credit card with a US billing address (now, this is the major problem). Further exploration of the iTunes Music Store revealed that Apple also sold iTunes Music Gift Card, which can be purchased and scratched to reveal a code that can be entered to provide credit for music or video purchases. However, once again, the iTunes Music Gift Card can only be purchased with a credit card with a valid US billing address. I then went on eBay to see if there were any iTunes music cards for sale and voilla there was one seller who put up his card for sale and indicated willingness to ship worldwide (Most sellers indicated US shipping only). I put up a bidding for the card and eventually won it.
The iTunes music card finally arrived on Friday. By Saturday, I had downloaded episode 1 of Season 2 for Lost. By Sunday (yesterday) I am finally a proud owner of a 60GB iPod Video - with already 3 episodes of Lost loaded into the device - and with 3 more episodes to download and catch up with the US viewers. I have also bought a further US$100 iTunes Music Card to top up my fast depleting US$15 Music Card. That should keep me going for a few months worth of downloads. That reminds me - I need to finally catch up with that book Da Vinci Code - I mean the audiobook version that is.
Ok..celcom and maxis are fighting over who gets their 3G technology out. So Maxis got their 3G card out first while Celcom got their 3G technology on 3G mobile phones. So who wins? Both...hahahaha (that's my opinion only lor!)
The thing is, I have been a loyal customer to maxis for the past 6 years. For me to switch to celcom, hmmm I'll have to think twice. Hubby almost planned to switch to celcom but managed to persuade him to wait. Heheheheh :P Well, it will be another couple of months till Maxis release their mobile phone version of 3G.
Then again having said so, if we both switch to celcom, we can actually do video conferencing together. But helloo..it's expensive (lah). But the features...waaahhh...not bad.
But with the maxis card, you don't need to go to any hots spots or "starbucks" to get online. Imagine you hang out at some "Taman Bunga" somewhere or even surfing from the comfort of your car using 3G. Well, yes EDGE has similar concept but...3G (lah)...we're talking 3G!!
And right now, I am surfing using the maxis 3G card from the comfort of my hospital bed. (Yes, I plan to get my self discharged later this evening!) No longer 28.8kbps pethatic phone line for me. heheheh.. And it's quite fast really. :) Weewwoooweewwoo..talk about technology.
