I am considered as one of those lucky or fortunate ones when it comes to cars. I'm a woman and I love cars. I know about cars more than my husband. Though he was the one who introduced me to F1 sports then again, I was always into really nice design and slick looking cars. When it comes to the technicality of an engine design, I'll surrender-lah.
Anyway, my first car that I own was a Honda and I called him Hank. I've always love Hondas. I bought Hank when I was a student and had that car for 3 and half years. He was good to me through thick and thin. I would drive Hank to school everyday even during winter when the road is covered with snow. I would take him around with me during spring break to the neighboring states.
I was sad to leave him behind after the graduation. Hank may not be brand new when I took him in. He was not that beat up for a 7 years old car. But eventually I had to sell him off and I needed the money to bring it back home. I sold him off to one Pakistani guy who lived near by my apartment. I never knew what happened soon after I gave the keys to that guy. I still have Hank's picture to remind me of the good times.
I was lucky because I got a job offer even before I got home. I was interviewed on line. At that time I had a website up with my portfolios. The MD of the company sent me an email and offered me a job. A week after I got home, I got sick because I came back from a winter weather to a sudden hot and humid weather in K.L. I was only home for a week and the MD called me and asked me when I could start work. I told him that I needed to recover from the bad cold and sore throat. A week after I recovered, I reported to work. At that time I had no car. I was lucky that my sister's office was near by so for 2 weeks my sister would drop me off at my work place in P.J.
Anyway, roughly about 2 weeks after I started my job, Simon arrived at my parent's house. I got really excited because I didn't have to tumpang my sister to work by then. I'm a car owner again. Simon and I also went through thick and thin. The furthest I took him was to P.Dickson and it was because of a company trip. There was one incident when I drove Simon to work, he skidded and left me speechless and shaking for days. It's too complicating for me to explain it in my blog but I was too scared to drive him around for a while. Instead I took my husband's William to work while he drove Simon. We just got married at that time.
Driving William was easy because he was an auto. From a manual to auto is simply heaven for me. I got tired of the stick, the jams and later I had to let Simon go. Letting Simon go was quite tearful. I had him for 3 years. But when I got Harold, he was a gem. Harold was my new baby then. William then was given to my sister in law when hubby got Micheal. Michael was something that I refused to drive up till now. He's a good car but I didn't like driving him around on weekends. Harold was the best.
Then after about 2 years of driving Harold, I had a crave for a 4WD. Again, we sold of Harold and got ourselves Kirk. Kirk was a spur of the moment decision. We regretted having him after 2 years. Kirk was a city drive 4WD. We took him once for a long distance ride and we felt uncomfortable driving it. We then decided that we needed something spacious, comfortable, stable and safe for long distance ride. That's when Tammy came along. She was what my mom would call "bus mini". She was not too big or too compact for an MPV. Tammy was perfect as a family car. The hubby had to sell off Michael because he was hard to maintained. Besides, the company had given him Paul as a company car. Tammy and Paul has been with us since then.
Few weeks ago, hubby decided to return Paul back to the company. Instead, he wanted my Tammy. Since he'll be taking Tammy to work, I won't have any car to drive around or picking up the kids from school. In the end we decided to get a new ride for me. We looked around, tested this one particular car and we both fell in love with Henry.
Henry finally arrived last week. We were very lucky. Henry was available when we decided to do the bookings 2 weeks ago. I was told that usually people have to wait 3-4 months for that car. The 2.0 would be perfect since I'm so much into F1 but the waiting period was too long. Since we only have roughly a month till hubby returns back Paul to the company, we settled for the 1.8. Henry came with a 16" rims and full sports body kit. Tammy and Henry now sits together side by side. They both have the same number with different alphabets.
I must be nuts talking about cars right now.
